My New Face Journey

Back after a year, I think after this I'm just not gonna make any promises of coming back cause i always seem to break it. lol. Wonder how those bloggers do it. Really hats off to yall!

Anyways thought since NewFace is around the corner again, I'd talk about my journey here and hopefully help some of you make the choice of whether to join or not. Since it's gonna be a long post, imma label every paragraph so it'll make it easier for yall to see which yall wanna read and all yeah?

1. PRE-COMPETITION FEELINGS

So the past few years, i had always heard of NewFace but i never quite followed it. And somehow i always had this feeling like, it'd be nice to join but doubt i'd ever. And what would people think? I was embarrassed to go down for auditions cause i knew people would judge - like...'this girl is so thick-skinned.' or 'this girl think she damn pretty'. And what if i didn't get in? I was also worried of being in the spotlight and how other than fame, it brings you haters as well and I didnt know if i could deal with that.

Do any of these feelings reside in you as well? If it does, then, i totally feel ya.

2. MOTIVES TO JOIN

So i finally plucked up the courage and decided to join. One of my personal motives of joining was just to see if i could make it uh. Honestly I have a retardedly low self-esteem so by joining, i hoped it would help me have more confidence and esteem. Another reason was also cause i was slowly stepping into the modeling industry, trying it out here and there and I knew Newface would give me a platform to learn the ways (e.g. photoshoots, fashion show) and experience the industry (meet&greets, events, media attention etc.). Lastly, it was for DA MOOLAHHH. I mean..likka duh, $10k/5k/3k/1k was an awesome incentive to strive even harder to win.

3. AUDITION DAY

Well thankfully for me, I went in straight to round 2, the closed door auditions with the help of my agency, Mint Singapore. If you dont have an agency, you still have hope to do the same! I'll let you know how below:) Also, why i didnt mind joining this year cause my friends were joining. So if you all go in together, it'll be more fun and you won't feel so weird/shy!

So the day of the closed-door audition arrived and lo and behold, i had a stupid huge pimple on my cheek. Blehdee hormones of mine got too excited ah. As if that wasnt bad enough, my nerves were just going at it. You walk into the subaru hub and youre faced with so many other NewFace hopefuls, a lot of them really pretty. It's weird cause all of you know everyone's kinda competing against each other and you just sense a lot of judging looks. BUT NO. You must keep yourself in check, and dont let that deter you. After a few hours of the different rounds of auditions, you get used to the crowd, so dont worry. It's only the initial first few minutes.

Basically what goes on in the audition is you walk in one row with 10 girls and each one has to walk up to the judges, pose pose, answer some questions bout yourself and walk back. Easy peasy! Just wear good heels ah, mine was damn slippery i think i looked like a duck in my catwalk. They cut down from 100 plus to the Top 25 on that day so try and block out your whole day till evening cause it might take a while. Well. here's some tips for you!

PRE-AUDITION - EASY WAY IN

Tip #: Hashtag your photos on instagram #tnpnewface13

The newpapernewface team is picking some girls from instagram to go straight into the closed-door auditions. So hashtag your best few photos which show your looks and be versatile! Do some smiley, some modelesque ones. They dont like people to hide behind lots of make-up so make sure you don't apply like a toothpick-deep cake of foundation and super dramatic eyelashes.

It's handy for immediate updates on the competition and the media coverage. And! the form is there for you with all the audition details. AUDITION DAY

Tip #1: Go with friends

Tip #2: Don't wear too much make-up

Tip #3: Wear comfortable heels with friction below

Tip #4: Wear something simple but fitting

Tip #5: Go with an open and positive mindset

(If you don't get chosen, it's alright. It does not mean you are any less beautiful. 

They have to look through 100s of girls so don't be disheartened alright?

 Just go there positively and see what happens!)

4. COMPETITION JOURNEY

So, I'm not sure where to start cause the whole journey was just really great. It spanned over a few months since the finals was in october. I met so many great girls there, 18 great girls to be exact. And till this day, it's great to know our group whatsapp is still alive!:) I went into this competition feeling scared that people would be very bitchy and all, but honestly, only people who dig their own holes and give others a reason to bitch bout them will get the bitchin. But other than that, all the girls were extremely sweet and helpful. During finals when the results were getting read out, winning nothing did not get me down one bit. I guess what helped was that i went in with an open mind, didnt expect anything and just loved everyone so much that i would be genuinely happy for any one of them to win! Also, seeing 2 long rows of supporters with the biggest banners and loudest cheers was more than i could ask for. I was truly so appreciative to have them there. My whole family, my best friends, my fav touch girls, my lovely uni classmates and my then-touch-rugby club girls! Aiyah, i was just so overwhelmed with happiness and love that they were there that i felt like i was a winner that day ^.^ See, just check them out! so cute! <3333 p="">

To those who have questions on what the schedule's like.. Basically, it spans over 4ish months. In these 4 months, you have a few days where you go down for events, e.g. The New Paper Big Walk/Subaru Car wash or to do your hair. The busy part is only at the first and last part. First 2 weeks or so would be the photoshoot for top 25 to top 20. Then, the last 2-3 weeks are rehearsals for the fashion show. Yup! that was actually about it, it wasnt demanding on the schedule much.

I've actually got many behind the scenes photographs but it's in my other comp so will just add it into here another time. But to sum up everything, TNPNewFace was a really good experience and i encourage those who are interested in this industry to join it. I have never once regretted joining!:) Don't let your worries of what others may say/think get to you. It's much easier said then done but ultimately, do it for yourself. Don't live your life for other people. If this is something you want, go and get it! Wishing all of you NewFace hopefuls a very good luck and I'll see you on the 22nd at the round 2 auditions!!:))

The disappearing act.

I have seriously got to be one of the worst bloggers in the entire history of blogging. Sorry for the long hiatus people. Been working so much trying to save that 2k for my trip to Australia come end of the year! Anws, to wipe off the cobwebs from this place, I'll prolly do a post on dining at The Cajun Kings soon k! Since I get quite a no. of people asking me about it~. Other than that, if you are keen to listen in to my pretty boring and mundane life, feel free to check back in the coming week or so! Ok, after F1 la huh, since I'll be working. 

Also, the Finals of The New Paper New Face is coming!! Pretty excited to see how things pan out but pretty sad as well cause our reign will be over and soon we'll just be...Old Faces:( oh ya!  Fun fact, dyou know i like to sleep talk? hahahahah

Ok not that i like it, or choose to do it uh. (i mean who wants to sound psycho? Especially when you're staying over at your friend's place and everyone can hear you?!) But anws, this post...was pretty much created while i was bathing. I think most of my inspirations come when I'm in the toilet.. . . .. ... ...... ...

True story bruh.

Ok so to the point, i think i have some sorta sleeping deficiency! I can sleep anywhere and anytime! And i fall asleep so damn easily. I can sleep on the train, on the bus (oh did you know i dozed off on this lady in the bus once - my head kept falling on her shoulder and i just couldnt kick the tired feeling until there was one time the bus jerked and i woke up to realise........she had moved to sit opposite me! lol!) Truth be told, I think i can even sleep on a roller coaster if its long enough luh! Serious. I remember in primary school we used to have phone conferences for hours at a time throughout the night, but somehow..i would end up falling asleep on them. And once they told me they even heard me snoring or breathing deeply into the phone and they automatically knew i had fallen asleep. hahaha fucken lame luh.

Just guess what, I wrote that post that night at 3am and i wanted to blog a long post and bring in pictures and shit and....I FELL ASLEEP AT MY TABLE HAHAHA. See, i really have a sleeping problem. Anws, i think the gist of what i kinda wanted to talk about was i think something about me falling asleep at my computer for the past few days, which made me hand up my assignment late:( cause everytime i open my laptop, and while i wait for something to load, (or perhaps, while i try and get some inspiration by closing my eyes and thinking) i always end up waking up at 8 in the morning D: So so terrible. Ok but ALL MY ASSIGNMENTS ARE FINAL-FRECKIN-LY DONEEEEE for this sem! Now i'm just left with two exams this weekend (meh) and one next weekend and Imma PAARTY and PAARRTY and PAARRTYY AND PUH AND PUH AND, yeah ya get ma drift.

Oh yeah! So I chopped 6 inches off my hair! For fleeeeeeeeeee. (in case you read that wrongly and thought I cut my hair cause I found some kutu inside or what, no, i meant it was freeeeeee~ lol.)

Haha this was when i bluffed people on instagram that I cut short hair. Nyeheh. 

But alas no, I'm not that daring to experiment just yet!

Anyways, it was done by my friend's friend Sherman, he's training under Toni & Guy now and he's damn nice! He's extremely meticulous and takes care of even the tiniest of details on your head! Anws, he's looking for hair models now, basically a head he can practice on since he's still learning. He's can cut any thing but i think best would be if you want layers or short hair! If you're interested for a free haircut, do tell me!! I'll hook y'all up:)

 

Anws, I went to meet Anabel last night to burn ze midnight oil at the Starbucks! Diddchuuknowww, Starbucks Tampines is 24hours?! I didn't! And so it was a very pleasant surprise!:D Well, I'm quite proud of myself, 
(but now..i dont know if it is something stupid to be proud of) but I braved Starbucks with the biggest zit ever! Yes, if you have me on twitter, you would have seen my rambling about being able to shoot Prometheus 2 on my face.

Well, last night i also got a question on formspring which made me feel so happy but also so incredulous! 

 Somemore, it's at a time when my period is coming and i have so many small zits on my face. But God bless this lovely person's soul uh! Still made me a little happy though:D I just dont want that person to see me in real life and be like, 'Eeyer, actually her skin so not so clear at all. Confirm photoshop!'. So, I'm coming out with the truth!! *Points to disgusting pimple picture on top*. Le sigh.

Ok la i think this blog post went from Timbaktu to the moon and back and it just seems a little messy for me so..I shall just leave it as that now! Going to meet Anabel at TP to study again in a bit. Gonna chrome Bizpark or Mensa's western. And I simply cannot wait for our stupid exam tomorrow to be over and done with.

Back from bangkok, Back to books.

Hiii!

Well, got back from Bangkok like a week plus ago?

I have pictures and quite a bit to blog about it. So ill leave that for another blog entry when I have some eye candy for yall! Unfortunately, that trip was semi-wasted yet a good one. Okok more in The bkk entry.

So....been up the whole night telling myself i should do my assignment due next week, for the simple fact that i know this whole week of mine is going to be pretty psychotic. But did i start on my assignment? - no. Tadah~~~ procrastination at its best. I also have yet to fully empty out my BKK luggage. *buries head in shame*. Well, this entry is actually kinda aimless. I just didn't wanna leave my blog dead for too long so here I am~. But now as I'm typing this, my brain is slowly shutting down and leaving me with no idea on what to talk about. So before i go on babbling like a donkey with its tail on fire, I shall retreat back into the shadows of my couch and maybe give in to my drooping eyelids and take a nap here with my laptop on my lap. Thereafter getting up at 5am to retire to my real bed. I dont know why i do these lame things to myself. Ok well hope all of you have a lovely week. Till then...

Tired Audrey is Tired

Omg. I'm so happy with how my blog looks now. At least it's not so plain with the Instagram thing too. Pity my first picture is the damn unglam one with the chopstick in my mouth. Spent two hours doing that stupid picture up there! I really miss playing around with pictures and spending hours editing stuff. Actually, I think i really had no life after O'levels cause i used to have so much time to do things like that. And gone are the days I could stay up till 7am watching The OC. :( 

Le sigh, I think i'm having a pre-midlife crisis. I don't want to grow up. I DONCH VANT. 

• I want to be able to sleep in on days i have no school. 
• I want to be able to make fun of my friends who have to slog at work while I lepak and rot in bed till late.
• I want to be able to go clubbing without feeling like I'm dancing with kids. 

But then again, a double-edged sword presents itself and..

• I can't wait to be successful.
• Can't wait to make my own success and my own money and be someone people look up to.
• Can't wait to be all "Bitch, please" to people. ...ok no la of course i wont be like that to others but..
• Being my own boss would be damn awesome uh.

Hopefully one day, if i'm stuck in a toilet with diarhhea and no tissue paper, I'll conveniently use a $50/$100/$1000 note to clean my ass. Shiok.

Anyways, been rotting at my computer since 10am this morning trying to finish my stupid assignment but i simply cannot seem to concentrate. Am going to get down to it now and sleep early tonight. Or......maybe ill catch my 'Teen Wolf' later......Idea? ^.^

Ok before i go off, does anyone have any idea how i can upload a 13-minute video and how long it roughly takes? Cause i'm not sure if its just my computer or if its normal for it to take like 2 hours to load. Perhaps if you know, could you leave me a comment/drop the info in my formspring box? Spankz! Back from Redang, off to BKK!

 

Hello:)

Got back from Redang a few days ago! Last Friday to be exact. Went on a cruise for one of the photoshoots for NPNF. So glad I got to go cause it allowed me to get to know the girls better:) I'm glad the girls are not bitchy and competitive but actually really nice and sweet~  This is going to be a picture-filled post k! If your computer is damn laggy, then sorry! It's gonna be hella GG fo you *_* Well here's an insight to who are some of the Top 20 finalists in NPNF 2012!:)

PS: All these photos were stolen from Syirin and Nadiah! Nyeheh. I've got my own but it's no surprise that i might only upload that like next year. Lol. Ok la, I'll try and upload it before my BKK trip but i think most likely it'll stay in Facebook since the pictures are relatively similar. or..........hmm. K la see how!

And to finish off our first day, we had quite a heavy dinner! Nyehehehh since there was kind of free flow, we had a Western 3-course meal and (wait for it.....) a Chinese 6/8 set meal! We were damn piggish i swear. lol.

 DAY TWO

 

 Woke up early to get our hair and make-up done. Was in the 11am time-slot. Some of the girls were so poorthing they were given the 4am timeslot! But alas, their pictures will turn out so nice because there's the sunrise in it! So the 11am girls had their photos taken on Redang Island itself!:)

Just so you know....I changed my top ok! It's a different white top from Day 1!

 Ok lol just felt like being irritating.

Day 2 ended off with a super shiokkkkk ttm dinner and a topless show! KEKEKE. There were two shows, one with topless men (which actually comprised of the cruise ship's crew and one of them was hot! (ok not really hot but when he danced, mmm mmm mmm.) and the other show was a topless women show (yes boys with penis's getting hard with the very thought) there were many bouncing boobies on the stage as they performed and danced! The performers were from Europe and Germany if I'm not wrong. As much as their bodies were really nice, (and i mean realllllly nice, no cellulite on their bums at all) I realize I'm really not into looking at breasts. I much prefer the air of mystery when certain private parts are covered. Obviously there were no pictures from the shows as we were made to surrender all electrical devices at the door. (so...too bad, no free porn for y'all here)

 
Day 3 was basically just breakfast, packing and getting out of the boat! I actually headed down to school after the cruise docked with my humungous and not-very-the-light bag. Was so tired and reluctant to go school but couldn't afford to miss class cause I'll be missing it this week for my BKK trip! :B

 Anyways, here's a sneak peek of my hair for the Subaru Shoot that i did on Saturday. It was really very boomz! Had a bit of a shock when i saw it but it was actually quite fun to feel so....Vogue. haha. If i had that hair naturally, doubt I would ever need a pillow anymore! It was so thick and fluffy ^.^

 

 For those of you who are interested in going to Redang, here's what I can say:

- Water activites:  There is snorkeling, diving and more but unfortunately we didn't do those. The water is damn nice and clear though!! And there were actually schools of fishes near our feet at the shore! I actually tried chasing them so i could get a good picture. But thinking back, I think i must have looked really lame from far running in circles in the water...by myself. :l

- Food and drinks: Relatively pricey....? A bit more expensive luh but it's still alright. There's also a bar on the beach in case you wanna get a lil high likka G6.

- Length of stay: The island is pretty small so i suggest if you're only staying at Redang, then make it a 2d1n or 3d2n the most.

Well, i better get back to doing my communication plan! It's due tomorrow at 4pm and I'm here happily dillydallying and uploading photos. Meh. So lazy to start on it. Ok la, guess this is where i force myself to shut off all forms of distractive social media and attempt to do my work
